Story
Prashanthi (Eesha Rebba) comes from a lower middle-class family in a village near Rajahmundry, living with her parents and elder brother. Her life is shaped by constant patriarchy, where her freedom, education, and choices are repeatedly restricted by her father, brother, and an interfering uncle.

Denied the chance to study where she wants, Prashanthi is pushed into marriage midway through her education. Her uncle arranges her marriage with Omkar (Tharun Bhascker), a fishery businessman from a nearby village. Initially supportive and understanding, Omkar gives her hope of a better life, but over time, cracks begin to surface.

Will Prashanthi finally find peace and respect in her marital life, or will her struggles continue in a different form? The film follows her emotional journey in search of dignity and inner peace.

Artiste Performances
Tharun Bhascker delivers a solid performance as Omkar, a rigid, ego-driven husband. He brings out the character’s stubbornness convincingly, while also incorporating a few innocent and vulnerable shades effectively. His use of the Godavari dialect adds authenticity and enhances the believability of the role.

Eesha Rebba is the heart of the film and truly steals the show as Prashanthi. Her performance stands out as one of the film’s biggest strengths. She portrays vulnerability, suppressed anger, and quiet resilience with remarkable conviction. The way she expresses emotional pain and gradually finds the courage to stand up for herself makes the audience root for her throughout.

Brahmaji is well-suited as Omkar’s uncle and delivers a convincing performance. Prashanthi’s uncle, portrayed with a contrasting mindset, is equally effective. Both characters represent two different perspectives and add emotional weight to the narrative. The rest of the cast perform adequately within the scope of their roles.

Technical Departments
The editing is neat, and the concise runtime works in the film’s favour. However, a few minor trims could have made the narration even tighter and more engaging.

The cinematography is a major plus. The scenic beauty of the Godavari region and village life is captured beautifully, lending authenticity and visual richness to the film.

The music and background score complement the film’s tone and emotions well without overpowering the narrative. The production values are strong and effectively reflect the rooted, regional setting of the story.

Director A.R. Sajeev does a commendable job in adapting the story to suit Telugu sensibilities. Despite being a remake, the film feels organic and grounded. He avoids unnecessary commercial additions and stays true to the core narrative, delivering an emotionally engaging film with a meaningful message.

Analysis
Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi is the Telugu adaptation of the Malayalam hit Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. The film focuses on the suppression a woman faces within her family and marriage, and her journey of standing up against patriarchy and emotional abuse.

Director A.R. Sajeev neatly adapts the story to suit Telugu sensibilities, making minor narrative changes while retaining the soul of the original. The film opens by introducing Prashanthi and quickly establishes the restrictions, control, and lack of freedom she experiences in her parental home. These initial sequences effectively portray her emotional suffocation and longing for independence.

The marriage proposal and subsequent wedding portions are narrated in a light-hearted manner and remain engaging. Prashanthi’s entry into her in-laws’ house brings a refreshing shift in tone. Her bonding with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, the warmth she brings into the household, and her gradual sense of happiness are portrayed beautifully. This entire stretch is heartwarming and hooks the audience through gentle, organic storytelling.

The conflict begins to surface in the pre-interval block as cracks appear in Prashanthi and Omkar’s relationship. What starts as a serious emotional disturbance transitions into situational humour, leading to an engaging interval that sets the stage for a second half filled with both comedy and emotion.

The initial portions of the second half are handled effectively, with several humorous sequences revolving around Omkar’s attempts to confront and control Prashanthi. These moments are well-conceived and generate laughs. However, as the film progresses, the narration becomes slightly inconsistent. While certain scenes pack a punch, a few fail to land with their intended impact.

Dega–Nemali sequence stands out as a laugh riot. As the story moves towards its conclusion, the focus gradually shifts to Prashanthi’s transformation - a woman finally standing up against years of suppression, both from her family and her husband. This arc is handled with sensitivity and strength.

A strong sense of relief is felt by both Prashanthi and the audience as she begins to reclaim her freedom and pursue what truly makes her happy. The director smartly uses metaphorical and visual storytelling, adding depth to the narrative without being preachy.

After a brief comic episode in the climax, the film concludes on a positive and confident note, giving Prashanthi the closure and independence she longed for. The message lands clearly and effectively.

Overall, the director handles a sensitive yet important subject with care, balancing realism, emotion, and light-hearted moments. By maintaining believability and avoiding melodrama, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi delivers its message in a sincere and convincing manner.

My Final Thoughts
Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi stays true to its genre, offering light-hearted moments, emotional beats, and a meaningful message by the end. Despite addressing an important and sensitive subject, the director avoids unnecessary melodrama and keeps the narrative grounded in realism and relatability.

While there are a few hiccups in the form of slightly inconsistent narration and a handful of scenes not fully landing with their intended impact, the film remains engaging for the most part. On the whole, Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi emerges as a satisfying watch.

Bottom-line: Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi - A Feel-Good Entertainer with a Strong Message!

P.S. This is purely my personal take on the film.
I do not rate movies because I believe every film is made with effort, belief, and hard work by many people across departments. My intention is never to influence anyone’s experience before watching a film, but only to share what I felt as a movie lover. 😊
