Story
Movie starts with a terrorist group kidnapping a minister and few news reporters. PM Varma (Mohanlal) initiates a NSG operation on that where they rescue the reporters but the minister is killed who is father of Anjali (Sayyesha). They catch one terrorist but while investigating even he is killed with a suicide bomb. From here story moves to a village where Suriya is introduced as a farmer who uses natural ways to cultivate crops and farming. Later Suriya gets a fake ID and invitation for PM's next meet. There he rescues PM from an attack revealing his identity as Ravi, a Military Officer to PM. Impressed with his work PM appoints him as his Personal SPG Head. Will Suriya be able to save PM from the attackers if they attack again? What is the main objective of the Attackers? Is it just to kill the PM or do they have other plans too? This forms the rest of the story

Artiste Performance
Suriya has given an outstanding performance in this movie. He completely carries the movie on his shoulders which is evident throughout.

Mohanlal is yet another big asset to the movie. He carried the role of PM in a very matured way. His seniority and experience completely was a major plus to the movie.

Aarya has done a decent job. Sayyesha gets a limited role yet has done pretty well. Rest of the cast have done the required to the story.

Plus Points
Suriya's Energetic Performance
Mohanlal
Action sequences
Background score
Interval and Climax blocks

Drawbacks (Which I Felt)
Little drag in First half
Few scenes could have been trimmed

Analysis
Bandobast (Kaappaan) is KV Anand and Suriya's Third collaboration after two superhits Veedokkade (Ayan) and Brothers (Maattrraan). Audience will surely expect another good film from this duo and yes they did it again.

Right from the starting we understand that the film is a package of some politics with some action thriller episodes. After Suriya takes charge the action part starts in the movie.

First half starts with an NSG operation to rescue minister and news reporters. Shortly after that Suriya is introduced. After 2 action blocks with Suriya Movie slows down a bit. Easily 5 to 10 minutes can be trimmed here.

Soon the story picks up speed once Suriya comes to know there will be an attack on PM. There is a sequence of around 10 mins about how Suriya knows about the person who is planning the attack and how they will attack which is shown in an interesting way.

From this point till the Interval the screenplay is racy. Interval block is given with a bang and much needed emotion which sets a right stage to the second half.

Second half is very good compared to first half. Here the story focus on two things one is the attacks and other is farmers issue. The way directors has got both of the threads together at the end is fantastic.

Every action episode in this movie is top notch. There are 2 sequences around 5-6 minutes each one during interval and the other during climax which were executed terrifically.

Background score from Harris jayaraj in again a major plus to the movie. Few action episodes and thrilling sequences were taken to the next level with his BGM work. With a twist reveal and an action episode movie comes to an end.

Editing could have been better. Dialogues are Ok. Production values are good.

(MY) Final Word
Bandobast offers us an action thriller experience with a political touch. Director KV Anand tried to highlight some present burning issues like farmers, mining etc. It feels like there are too many things to handle. But getting all of them together is where director has done a fantastic job. Though movie feels a bit dragged in first half it picks up from the interval but we don't see any of those as there are excellent perfomances from Lead cast. Suriya fans will definitely enjoy the movie and for the movie lovers and audience this is a satisfying Action thriller with some top notch action episodes.

Bottom line: Bandobast - A Decent Action Thriller

Note: This is my take on the movie. That is why I am not rating the movie. I respect each and every movie. Making people read my review and influencing them to form an impression of a movie before watching the movie is never my intention. I am a Movie lover too. This is just to express my view on the movie. 😊
