Dark Devil says that he is here for Rs. 25000crs but the bank lockers have on Rs. 1510crs. Who is this Dark Devil? Why is he robbing the bank? How does he know about the Rs. 25000 crs. This forms the rest of the story.

Artiste Performances
Ajith Kumar gives a terrific performance as Dark Devil. His swag, attitude, and histrionics will surely impress the audience and will be a feast for fans. He is at his best during Pre-Interval and Pre-climax sequences.

Manju Warrier is beautiful and does a great job. Though she doesn't have much to do on screen, she makes an impact with her supporting performance.

Samuthirakani in the role of commissioner gives a tough fight to Protagonist. He is excellent in his role and plays it with ease.

John Kokken and Chirag Jani as antagonists are good and have played their part well. The rest of the cast are OK.

Analysis
Thegimpu is a second outing from H Vinoth and Ajith after 'Valimai'. After a high octane action thriller, they have come up with another action thriller with a strong message.

Thegimpu starts off with a gang preparing for the heist. The initial portions are very engaging. Ajith's entry is stylish and BGM elevates the whole sequence superbly.

After establishing the heist setup, the movie slows down for a while. There are a few subtle comic relief moments that are enjoyable. The proceedings take a roller coaster ride. There is a super sequence followed by a dull moment and here is where the screenplay becomes clueless.

The movie comes back on track at the pre-interval sequence. Ajith's identity is revealed with a song that is shot stylishly and then a major twist is revealed at the interval point setting the right stage for the second half.

The second half starts with Ajith's flashback. The whole flashback episode suffers from uneven pacing. Chilla Chilla song is a mass feast.

A second flashback that establishes the conflict point of mutual funds carries the emotional weight of the movie. The drama is well-established and the mutual funds' issue too is shown convincingly. The audience will surely connect to this point.

After setting up the conflict point, Ajith takes control and the movie is back to racy narration. There is a media interaction scene that is entertaining yet thought-provoking.

The climax feels a bit heavy with an excellent action sequence followed by a water chase. The action sequence is intense and the boat chase with a machine gun sequence is shot stylishly.

Songs and BGM by Ghibran are another plus to the movie. Songs on the screen will please the fans and BGM elevates the scenes.

Production values are rich and the cinematography by Nirav is top-notch. The visuals are stunning and get a lavish look to the movie. Dialogues are well written. H Vinoth captures the swag and attitude of Ajith excellently. He brings the best out of him in this heist thriller. Though there are a few hiccups in the narrations, he makes it a good watch with fan moments, a convincing plotline, and engaging action blocks.

(MY) Final Word
Coming after Valimai, Thegimpu (Thunivu) has got high expectations with its songs, teasers, and trailers. Vinoth almost gives an engaging thriller but falters mid-way due to a few narrative issues. But he does succeed in showcasing Ajith in a fan-pleasing way that overshadows all the flaws. Keeping aside a few illogical scenes and uneven pacing, Thegimpu (Thunivu) ends up as an One Time watchable action thriller

Bottomline: Thegimpu -  Stylish Heist Thriller with a message!

Note: This is my take on the movie. That is why I am not rating the movie. I respect each and every movie. Making people read my review and influencing them to form an impression on a movie before watching the movie is never my intention. I am a Movie lover too. This is just to express my view on the movie. 😊
