Story
Story starts with a team of RAW Agents led by Gopichand capturing a Pakistani Terrorist. The mission goes with lots of action and ends successfully with them arresting that terrorist and bringing him to India. Then story shifts to Delhi showing Gopichand as Ramakrishna, A Bank Employee. He does his job as a bank employee balancing his RAW Agent stuff. Qureshi (Rajesh Khattar), leader of a terrorist group tries to escape the arrested one but fails. Twist in the tale arises when team members of Gopichand are kidnapped and are taken to Pakistan. Who kidnapeped them? Can Gopichand Save them? Will his Mission go well? This forms the rest of the story.
Artiste Performance
Gopichand as a RAW Agent looks very stylish and fit. Though he is doing this kind of role for the first time he handles the role with lots of maturity. On the other side as a Bank employee, he does a very good job. His performance in few key scenes is wonderful. Even in few comedy scenes he has done a great job. Overall, Gopichand gives a terrfic performance.
Mehreen as Hero's love interest is good. She only appears in first half and for a song in second half. She does the role well.
Zareen Khan is too good. This is her perfect debut in tollywood. She comes in second half and is introduced with a song. She too has done a fantastic job as an Indian agent in Pakistan.
Both the antagonists are good. They give a very tough competition to the hero in the movie. Upen Patel as a key antagonist is stylish and gives a stellar performance. His scenes with Gopichand are interesting and were shot and executed pretty well.
Sunil and Ali give us some hilarious scenes in first half. Nassar as RAW chief has done really well. Rest of the cast has done the required.
Plus Points
Gopichand as RAW Agent
Zareen Khan
Second half
Visuals - Cinematography
All Action sequnces
A song in second half
Comedy
Background score
Drawbacks (Which I Felt)

Love track between the lead pair
Few Dragged scenes in first half
Songs in First half
Analysis
First half starts with an amazing action sequence which is very engaging. After that sequence pace of the movie dips a bit as it turns into a routine format.

But here comes sunil to make us laugh for a while. Both Sunil and Ali give us some laughs. There is a dog sequence with Ali which looks a bit odd but makes a laugh a bit.
Only problem in first half is the love track between the leads which is dragged a bit. Narration feels a bit slow. Few scenes should have been trimmed to make it more crisp. Though it feels a bit dragged, the entertainment will overshadow all that.

Movie picks up again in the pre-interval with an action sequence followed by revealing key twist making it a perfect Interval bang for the movie.
Second half is more interesting and engaging than the first half. Though there is no comedy in second half there are ample amount of action sequences and thrills that keep us arrested to the screen.
Zareen khan is introduced with an item song and later we come to know that she is an undercover Indian agent in Pakistan. She plays a key character helping the protagonist in his mission.

There is scene where protagonist has to kidnap a key character which is handled very well. Even after the kidnap goes well, an amazing twist is given which you won't see coming.
Second half is very racy. A song which comes in second half between the lead pair in shot beautifully. Locations and visualization is very nice.
Pre climax and Climax episodes are stunning. A chase - action sequence in pre-climax is terrific. Climax is simply superb. Twist is unexpected. Every twist comes out of the blue leaving us in shock.
With a thrilling action sequence movie comes to an end on an emotional note.
Background score of the movie is fabulous. Though the songs weren't that good except for the one that comes in second half, Music director impresses you with a powerful Background score during action sequences. Cinematography is another big asset to the movie. Visuals are very good. Action sequences are executed terrifically.

(MY) Final Word
Chanakya is a Spy thriller with entertainment. After many disappointments, Gopichand is back with a really good movie. This is a comeback movie for him. Forgetting a little drag in first half, Chanakya is a promising spy movie. For action and thriller movie lovers, Chanakya is a must watch and is very enjoyable movie. Go for it.
Bottom line: Chanakya - An Engaging Spy thriller.
Note: This is my take on the movie. That is why I am not rating the movie. I respect each and every movie. Making people read my review and influencing them to form an impression of a movie before watching the movie is never my intention. I am a Movie lover too. This is just to express my view on the movie. 😊
