Artiste Performances
Superstar Rajinikanth garu is amazing in the role of Adithya Arunasalam. He shoulders the movie completely and is a show stellar. He has given a terrific performance in all the elements like emotions, action.
Nivetha Thomas has given a superb performance. Her scenes with Rajinikanth have come out really well. Emotional scenes between them are outstanding.
Nayanthara looks very beautiful. In her limited screen time she has done a good job. Love track between Nayan and Rajinikanth looks cute.
Suniel Shetty is good in his role. He is introduced during the pre interval and he too has delivered a great performance.

Analysis
AR Murugadoss is known for making different subjects like Ghajini, 7th sense and stylish thrillers like Thuppaki. Darbar falls in the second lot.
From the first frame till end, Murugadoss has presents Rajinikanth Excellently. Heroism elevations and the BGMt by Anirudh are Marvelous. There are many whistling/clapping moments and goosebumps guaranteed scenes in the movie.
Movie starts with a fight sequence introducing Aditya Arunasalam followed by Dhummu Dhooli. After the song there is nearly a 10 minutes of Police Operation which is very much engaging.
After that pace of the movie drops for a while. Till pre interval the movie is a roller coaster ride. It keeps going up and down.
Movie picks up in Pre interval scenes where Sunil Shetty's character making it a Powerful Interval Bang for the movie.
Second half half some pacing issues compared to first half but has many "FAN"tastic moments like in First half.
There is a Railway station fight scenes where it's hard for not only Superstar fans but movie lovers to sit in their seat. After that pacing is gone for a toss. Movie becomes slow and focuses on emotional conflict of the movie that is narrated in a dull way.
Movie comes back with Physical training scene of Rajinikanth which is yet another feast to movie lovers and a fan moment in the movie.
Emotional scenes between Nivetha and Rajinikanth are yet another major highlight of the movie. These come at the right place and elevate second half.
After a cat and mouse game between the protagonist and antagonist, movie ends with a superb action sequence.
Editing could have been better. Santosh Sivan's camera work is brilliant. Visuals are extraordinary. More than songs, it's the BGM where Anirudh has done a Splendid job. Especially the Action episodes and emotional scenes were elevated with his BGM.
(MY) Final Word
Darbar is a Commercial entertainer with an underlying message narrated in ARM Style. Leaving a few dull scene you will completely enjoy this movie with Rajnikanth's spectacular screen presence and Terrific Performance. On a whole, Darbar is Rajinikanth's One man show.
Bottomline: Darbar - Chumma Kizhi
Note: This is my take on the movie. That is why I am not rating the movie. I respect each and every movie. Making people read my review and influencing them to form an impression on a movie before watching the movie is never my intention. I am a Movie lover too. This is just to express my view on the movie. 😊
