He has a gang of 4 other friends with him who sell black tickets during a movie release and rest at their home eating, drinking and playing cards rest of the time. The locality in which Deva lives faces water problem since few days. Deva starts a business of Liquor mafia where he gets liquor from other states and sells it as it is banned in his state. An MLA, who is also doing the same comes to know about this and goes for a war with him. Is this how Deva turned a Gangster? What made Deva enter into this Mafia? How Kalyani Priyadarshini and Kajal Aggarwal are set into this Story? These form the rest of the story

Artiste Performance
Sharwanand has really stuns with an awesome performance as a gangster. Long back in a Movie called "Prasthanam" we saw him doing a very serious role. After that Satya 2 din't create that much impact. But this one is surely an amazing performance from him.

Kalyani Priyadarshini has got a very good role in the movie. Her 90's look has really suited well. Sequences between her and Protagonist have come out really well. Kajal Aggarwal gets a very limited role. She playes a Doctor and she too has done a good job.

Adarsh, Sudershan, Raja, Brahmaji evoke few laughs. Rest of the cast do the required for the story

Analysis
Movie Starts of with hero stopping a drug gang. Then story moves to the past and after few minutes it comes back again to present. Narration keeps oscillating between past and present.

Director has said in his recent interview that he was inspired by Godfather 2 screenplay. We can clearly see that during the narration. Also few scenes are inspired from other Hollywood movies too.

Coming to the cast, Sharwanand has done really well. The way he handled both, a guy who sells black tickets, jobless and a Gangster is superb. The seriousness he maintains, the body language just amazes you.

Scenes in flashback with Kalyani Priyadarshini came out well. These scenes evoke few laughs too with hero's gang and Love track between the both were shown neatly.

Surprisingly Kajal gets a very small role. She doesn't have anything to perform. Even her glamour show song "Pilla Picture Perfect" comes during the end titles. At one point, we feel what made her go so close to Deva. Though she gets a small role she plays it well.

The story has no comedy. It just comes and goes in a subtle way. It has got some good moments of heroism elevation. First half doesn't have any emotional scenes, It's all about Deva turning into a Gangster and then a leader to that Gang. It's the second half where there are few emotional scenes and conclusions to all the threads.

Only problem with the movie is the way things unfold and proceedings of it. It looks dragged in few places and we may get a little bored.

Last but not the least, more than songs the Background score was very impressive. Few elevation scenes had good impact due to the BGM. In the Last 20 mins, While Deva kills, "Aigiri Nandhini" BGM is used and it just takes the whole Climax to the next level.

Visuals and Production values are great. Dialogues are good Editing could have been better.

(MY) Final Word
This Movie is a good crime drama. Though it feels slow and a bit dragged, It has its moments. On a whole, Ranarangam ends up as a Watchable story of a gangster.

Bottom line: "Ranarangam" - Decent Crime Drama

Note: This is my take on the movie. That is why I am not rating the movie. I respect each and every movie. Making people read my review and influencing them to form an impression of a movie before watching the movie is never my intention. I am a Movie lover too. This is just to express my view on the movie. 😊
